Peroneal Tendonitis

Peroneal tendonitis is the inflammation or irritation of the peroneal tendons — two important tendons that run along the outside of your ankle and foot. These tendons help stabilize your foot and ankle and protect against ankle sprains.

Common symptoms

  • Pain and swelling on the outside of the ankle or foot
  • Pain that increases with activity
  • Weakness or a feeling of instability when walking
  • Pain that improves with rest but returns with motion

Our treatment approach

  1. Gait & pressure mapping — Identifies overloading on the outer foot.
  2. Custom orthotics — Reduce strain on the peroneal tendons.
  3. Ankle stabilizing braces
  4. FootBalance 3D-molded insoles
  5. Supportive footwear guidance
